Wei Changling finally had her life saved after going through surgery. Looking back on her past obsession with Falun Gong and the sufferings she had endured, she said with lingering fear in her heart: "If it hadn’t been for the surgery, I would have died."

What Wei Changling was suffering from initially was only a common gynecological disease: uterine adnexitis. “If the disease is found and treated in time, the patient will have a good recovery. If it is found too late and treated untimely, a series of severe or even life-threatening consequences might occur," said Doctor Pan of the gynecological clinic of the hospital where Wei Changling underwent her surgery.

It was precisely because of the untimely discovery and treatment that had brought severe consequences to Wei Changling’s health, resulting in serious erosion and abscess of the uterine adnexal tissues and a large amount of hydrops in the abdominal cavity. In the end, she had to take surgery, which lasted 8 whole hours.

All this resulted from her practicing Falun Gong whole-heartedly.

Wei Changling, who lives in Yuancheng District, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, got involved with Falun Gong in late June 1997. During a morning exercise session, an old woman came up to her to “spread the Fa”, telling her that Falun Gong was a good practice that could keep people fit without taking any injections or medication if they were sick. As Wei Changling had stomach problems since childhood, coupled with migraines and insomnia, she decided to have a try at Falun Gong to see if it would work.

Originally, Wei Changling only intended to improve her health by practicing Gong. However, after she got involved with Falun Gong, she learned that "Master" required her to keep “studying the Fa" while practicing Gong, and that the time spent on "studying the Fa" shouldn’t be less than that spent on practicing Gong. In the later period of "studying the Law", she gradually became "enlightened", feeling that she had been taken to a "high level" by "Master" as if she was about to see "something in another dimension". Finally, she fell into the spiritual quagmire of Falun Gong and revered the “scriptures” of "Master” as sacred, without the least doubt about Falun Gong’s heretical fallacies.

She focused on Falun Gong, no longer caring about the housework and life of her family. "Master" said that practicing Falun Gong was mainly to “cultivate yourself" and that if you couldn’t let go of your family affection, you couldn’t cultivate at all. Therefore, Wei Changling cared less and less about her family.

One night, Wei’s mother-in-law came and told tell her that her child was sick with a high fever of 38 degrees, but she wasn’t worried at all after hearing about it. Since "Master" Li Hongzhi said that "one person practicing benefits the whole family," she thought that with the blessing of "Master", her child would be cured soon even without taking medication or injections. Early the next morning, she hurriedly went out to attend the “Fa-study” activities of Falun Gong instead of taking her child to see a doctor.

At noon, her husband returned home from outside and took their child to the hospital immediately. Their child's high fever subsided after taking injections in the hospital.

Wei Changling was blamed by her husband when she came home in the evening, but she thought she was practicing for the good of her whole family, so she naturally got angry with her husband and had a quarrel with him. After that, the couple treated each other silently for a long time, which resulted in them becoming increasingly indifferent to each other.

To get Wei Changling out of the shadow of the Falun Gong and let her return to her normal life, her husband tried every possible way, but to no avail. Soon, Wei Changling divorced her husband, becoming a woman without a family or family affection.

After the divorce, Wei Changling worshiped “Master” Li Hongzhi more blindly and got more obsessed with his "Dafa". She thought she had "ascended to a high level" by getting divorced and believed this was the "advancement" that "true disciples" should make as required by “Master”. Also, she felt she had now got rid of the constraints from "normal human feelings" after her divorce, and she was glad that she went one more step closer to "achieving consummation".

Because she had refused medical treatment for a long time, her abdominal pain attacks occurred more frequently and became increasingly severe. However, every time she had a pain attack, she would look to the “Law Body” of "Master" for blessing, thinking that "Master" was eliminating her karma, cleansing her body, and helping her ascend to high levels.

As her health gradually weakened, Wei Changling became more obsessed with "Master" and "Dafa". According to her recollection, on May 12, 2009, which coincided with her physiological period, she had a severe abdominal pain attack again. Previously, she had been able to endure the abdominal pain each time when it occurred during her physiological period, which made her increasingly obsessed with Falun Gong's heretical fallacies such as those about "Law Body" and "karma elimination”. However, this time was different from the past, as her pain lasted for three consecutive days without ever subsiding.

According to Wei's neighbors, they often saw her walking back and forth in the yard and pressing her abdomen with her hands during those days. Sometimes, her face was pale and sweaty, and she was unable to straighten her back. When her neighbors asked her what was wrong, she told them that her stomach hurt badly. They advised her to go to the hospital, but she said as a "Dafa disciple" she did not need to go to the hospital when sick, as she would get well on her own with the blessing of "Master".

Finally, her family could not stand it anymore, and they forcibly sent her to the hospital despite her strong opposition. After a check-up, she was confirmed as suffering from severe erosion of the uterine adnexal tissue and ovarian necrosis on one side. The doctor said that she must be operated on to remove the necrotic area as her disease wasn’t found and treated in time.

After the surgery, Wei Changling started a new life. An obvious sign of that is she has abandoned Falun Gong with the patient help of anti-evil-cult volunteers. Now, she no longer believes in such nonsense as "karma elimination" and "Law Body", but faces life with a sunny attitude and takes a scientific approach to disease.
